Work on FILM this summer.

An exclusive opportunity to work in Super 8 or 16mm film
culminating in a screening event at the 2021 Yukon Riverside Arts Festival in August.

Open to all levels of media artists. Participants will be given instruction on either Super 8 or 16 mm film production using either super 8 cameras or the 16mm Bolex camera and in hand processing film. Film will then be transfered to digital format for post production.
Participants will be given 4 rolls of film (12 minutes) to work with. Aditional rolls may be piurchased.

Technical assistance will be available for all stages of production. Participants final films will be shown at a screening event at the 2021 Yukon Riverside Arts Festival (August 13-15).

There is no fee for this workshop and artists will be paid an honorarium for thier screening at the festival.

Annie Kierans
Annie Kierans is a visual artist originally from Halifax, Nova Scotia now based in Dawson City, YT. She practices close looking, intuitive gestures, distortions of shape, and colour play through the mediums of paint, video, analog film and lo-fi animations. She has worked as an editor, technician, director, and cinematographer on a variety of community-led art, film and audio projects. She is one slice of the pie that is Jimmy’s Place Artist Collective.
Dan Sokolowski
Dan is the producer of the Dawson City International Short Film Festival
and has extensive experience working in16mm film with his favorite camera, the BOLEX!.
How to apply
All genres of filmmaking are eligible
(Drama, documentary, animation, experimental, scratch on film,etc)
Send in a synopsis of your project along with a short bio of yourself and how you feel this project will work on film.
(Note: in this process all filmmaking is silent and sound must be added in post-production)
Attach links to video work if applicable. (max 10 minutes)
